Batch 11 students of the MGLuxM program visited St Regis Hotel in Mumbai on January 11, 2023. The industry visit helped the young students understand how a luxury hotel works and all the different departments that work together to provide great service.
The staff from various departments came forward and shared an overview of what they do to provide the best customer service.
- Hitesh Sangwan, Director of Food and Beverage, St Regis, spoke about how food operations work in the industry.
- Devina Thapliyal (Front Office Manager), Chetna Suryawanshi (Executive Housekeeper), and Chef Santosh Rawat (Executive Pastry Chef) showed the students how the kitchen and housekeeping are maintained.
- S. David Naidu (Director, HR) spoke about employee benefits and new opportunities in the hospitality secto
- Monal Prabhu (Director of Sales) gave the students an inside picture of how the sales teams work and how it’s different from the other sectors.
- They also interacted with Chef Beena Noronha at Sette Mara - the Mediterranean restaurant at St Regis. The staff served the students a 5-course meal made under her supervision.
Interacting with the staff - the backbone of the hotel, the students realised what it takes for an entire team to work efficiently and make a hotel one of the best in Mumbai. The students thoroughly enjoyed their day as they took a tour around the place. They also had a peek into some of the other top restaurants in St Regis – Koi Bar and Asilo, to name a few.
