Batch 10 students of the Master in Global Luxury Goods & Services Management (MGLuxM) program at SP Jain School of Global Management went on a yacht visit as part of their industrial tour. It helped them gain an in-depth insight into the luxury yacht industry. SP Jain is the only B-school in India to take its students on an industrial visit to learn about yachts.
MGLuxM students got the access to board the Princess 61 – a 61-feet-yacht and had the opportunity to attend a Masterclass on the ‘World of Yachts’ and learn about the business, operations, clientele, and more.
They were accompanied by Smita Jain (Director, MGLuxM), Rajpreet Brar (Industry Relations Manager, MGLuxM), Swati Lodha (Program Manager, MGLuxM) and Pranil Kale (Assistant Program Manager, MGLuxM).
Blue Bay Marine and its founder, Mehrzaad Kajanwala made this trip possible. In India, Blue Bay Marine is the pioneer of yacht charter services. They specialise in bespoke luxury yacht charter services in Mumbai, Goa, Thailand, and the United Arab Emirates. The company also offers tailor-made packages with food and wine to celebrate one's favourite cruising moments.
After lunch, the students left college and reached Gateway of India in two groups, from where they boarded a dinghy that took them to the yacht.
The students got an opportunity to interact with Mr Mehrzaad, who spoke about how he began his career in this industry and founded Blue Bay Marine. He further elaborated on being the pioneer of boat hiring and offering luxury yacht charter services in Mumbai and Goa. The company also owns superyachts in Dubai, Pattaya, Phuket, and Bangkok for charter.
During the trip, the students were served refreshments. They clicked pictures and lived the yacht life for a while. It was a glorious feeling to sail the seas, see the sunset, and gaze at the city's skyline.
The new batchmates had a great time bonding with each other and sailing in the ‘city of dreams’. It was a day the students would remember as they returned home with a bag full of memories.
