Led by experts in family business management, the Global FMB program will enable you to acquire not just the knowledge, but also the requisite skills and aptitude needed to contribute effectively to your family business. The program is structured in a unique manner – you will attend classes at SP Jain for one week per month (contact), and the following three weeks at your own family business, with each contact providing applicable lessons that can be implemented successfully within the context of your business.

The program is structured in the following format:

  • Contact Week 1*: Mumbai or Delhi
  • Contact Week 2: Dubai
  • Contact Week 3 - 5: Mumbai and Delhi
  • Contact Week 6: Mumbai
  • Contact Week 7 - 10: Mumbai and Delhi
  • Contact Week 11: Singapore
  • Contact Week 12: Mumbai and Delhi

*Please note that decisions pertaining to the location of admission to the Global FMB program will be undertaken by the Admissions Committee. The content, faculty and curriculum offered at both locations will remain the same.

The Delhi batch is only for the August intake.

CURRICULUM

The program covers all aspects of management. Broadly, it focuses on helping students address challenges they face in the following areas:

  • General Management: What is and what should be my business?
  • Business Dependencies: In what conditions do I operate?
  • Business Is Customer: Who is my customer and what drives his/her buying process?
  • Business Is Operations: How do I deliver what I promise my customer?
  • Business Is Money: What resources are utilised and what is the outcome?
  • Business Is People: How do I manage people within my organisation?

Program Structure

ATTEND FACE-TO-FACE CLASSES IN MUMBAI, DUBAI AND SINGAPORE

At SP Jain, the GFMB students have the opportunity to study in three dynamic business hubs of Mumbai, Dubai and Singapore. This tri-city experience provides unique exposure to multinational business environments and cultures.

Every month, you will study for 1 week on campus at SP Jain (contact week) followed by 3 weeks at your own family business. Each contact week is carefully crafted to provide you with lessons that can be applied successfully within the context of your business.

The program is divided into two semesters. The first semester will cover Fundamentals of Management in Family Business and the second semester will cover Advanced Management in Family Business.

Those who complete the first semester successfully will have an option to opt for the Degree Program from London offered by S P Jain London School of Management. More details can be obtained from the website: Masters of Family Managed Business (MFMB) | SP Jain London School of Management

The semesters are structured in the following manner:

First Semester

  • Contact week 1 to 6: Mumbai

Second Semester

  • Contact weeks 1 and 2: Mumbai
  • Contact week 3: Dubai
  • Contact week 4: Mumbai
  • Contact week 5: Singapore, Korea and Japan*
  • Contact week 6: Mumbai
 

* This contact week can be preponed or postponed as per the travel feasibility in these countries

Option in the second semester to opt for the Masters Degree Program from London offered by S P Jain London School of Management

The GFMB program is specially designed to help you gain the knowledge, skills and attitudes to take your family business to the next level and become a successful business leader. It will be done by the following design.

Semester 1 - Fundamentals of Management in Family Business

Knowledge of

  • Business is Customer – covering Sales and Marketing.
  • Business is Execution – covering Sourcing, Operation and Supply Chain Management.
  • Business is People – covering People behaviour, HR flow and Organisational design.
  • Business is Money – covering Finance, Cost and personal wealth management.

Semester 2 – Advanced Management in Family Business

Knowledge of

  • Business is Strategy - covering General Management and Strategy.
  • Business is Dependent - covering Economics, IT, International Business and PESTLE.

Skills of

  • Ability to Express and Extract - covering communication.
  • Ability to Convey the Value - covering sales.
  • Ability to deal with stakeholders - covering negotiation.
  • Ability to deal with challenging situations - covering leadership.
